A ballistic missile struck the Al-Saqiya health center in Yemen's southern Lahj province on Monday, according to a statement attributed to Yemen's armed forces, which blamed the Houthi movement for the attack 2. A Yemeni news account reported that five people were killed and 15 injured 1.

According to the post by @yemen_newsroom, 10 of the injured were members of the facility's medical staff 1. The account presented the toll as reported rather than confirmed, and no hospital, health office or independent monitor has publicly verified the figures.

The attribution to the Houthis comes from Yemen's armed forces, as relayed in a post by @WCLNews247 2. Yemen's government forces are fighting the Houthis, so the claim comes from a party to the conflict and has not been independently confirmed. No Houthi response has been reported, and it is not known whether the group acknowledges or denies firing at the area.

Other accounts placed the health center in Al-Mudharaba district, in western Lahj. The facility's name has also appeared in different spellings, including Al-Saqiyah.

Only two social media accounts have carried the report so far, and neither included images or details on the damage to the building. The type of weapon, described as a ballistic missile, has not been confirmed by any independent source.

The reported strike comes amid a wider escalation in the region. Separate, unconfirmed reports on the same day said Houthi forces had advanced into Al-Maqatirah district, also in Lahj, bringing them within about 80 kilometres of Aden. Over the weekend, there were also reports of Houthi missile impacts at an industrial site in Riyadh and in Dammam in Saudi Arabia, as well as reported US strikes on Iran's Qeshm Island near the Strait of Hormuz.

Attacks on health facilities in Yemen are tracked by international bodies including the World Health Organization, but no such organisation had commented on the Lahj report at the time of writing.
