Russian KAB glide bombs struck the southern outskirts of Zaporizhzhia in the early hours of 3 November, according to an open-source mapping account on X. Ukrainian authorities had not publicly confirmed the account. Around 01:58 UTC, about 4 a.m. local time, the account @AMK_Mapping_ said the city was under attack and reported "at least two impacts in the southern suburbs so far" 1.

A second account, @AUC31, later relayed a fuller version attributed to AMK Mapping. It described four KAB glide-bomb strikes just southeast of the city and said Su-34 aircraft had been seen leaving their launch lines 2. That post repeats AMK Mapping's reporting rather than independently confirming it. Both posts trace back to the same originator, so the reports effectively come from a single source.

The two posts also differ on the details. The first gives at least two impacts in the southern suburbs, while the relayed account gives four strikes southeast of the city 12. Neither says what was hit, and neither reports deaths or injuries.

No statement from the Zaporizhzhia regional administration, its governor Ivan Fedorov, Ukraine's State Emergency Service or the Ukrainian Air Force describing the strikes could be found. Ukrainian national media had also not reported them. Russia's Defence Ministry has not commented.

Glide bombs are Soviet-era aerial bombs fitted with wings and guidance kits. They let aircraft such as the Su-34 release them from a distance, away from the front-line air defences. Russia has used them against Ukrainian towns and cities throughout the full-scale invasion. Earlier news reports said a glide bomb attack on Zaporizhzhia in early August killed one person and wounded dozens.

The reported attack came during a night of widespread strikes across Ukraine. Separate reports over the preceding hours described a ballistic missile strike on Dnipro, a strike on the Kryvorizka thermal power plant in Dnipropetrovsk region, and a missile strike on a medical facility in Kharkiv. Strikes on an aid centre in Komyshuvakha, in Zaporizhzhia region, were reported to have killed at least 26 people the previous day.

The exact number and locations of the reported impacts near Zaporizhzhia remain unverified. It is also unknown whether anyone was hurt or any property was damaged.
