Social media channels reported on November 5 that Ukrainian forces struck a target in the Russian city of Ryazan overnight. The accounts differ on what was hit, and the reports could not be independently confirmed.
The Telegram channel WarTranslated said Ukraine's Defence Forces attacked a Wildberries logistics depot in Ryazan the previous night. The channel appeared to relay an unnamed report and gave no further detail or evidence 1.
A separate post on X by the account @front_ukrainian said that on November 5 the Ryazan Oil Refinery was hit, citing a source it called "Absolutely Reliable Source" 2. The excerpt available does not describe the extent of any damage. Other claims attached to the event, including that multiple refinery units were damaged and a large fire broke out, and that the refinery supplied aviation fuel and diesel to the Russian military, were attributed to the same relayed post and to the account @nexta_tv. Those claims are not supported by the excerpts available here.
No casualties have been reported. Neither source cites Russian officials, satellite imagery or video, and no Russian or Ukrainian official statement on the incident was available. Wildberries, a Russian online retailer, was not quoted in either report 12.
The reports come amid continued Russian strikes on Ukraine. Ukrainian sources reported attacks across the country overnight on November 5, including more than 200 drones, and damage to energy facilities. Those reports are also unconfirmed. Separately, police reported a strike on Komyshuvakha in Zaporizhzhia Oblast that killed at least 42 people.
