The Conflict Intelligence Team, a Telegram channel, reported on 6 November that Iranian surface-to-air missiles were fired at a US fighter jet it said had violated airspace over Qeshm Island in Iran's Hormozgan province. The channel said some sources reported that two US Tomahawk cruise missiles struck Souza Port on Qeshm in response. The channel did not name those sources, and the strike has not been confirmed 1.
A separate account, @HormuzLetter, posted that a US fighter jet struck an Iranian surface-to-air missile launcher on Qeshm Island with two missiles after an Iranian missile was launched at the aircraft 2. The two accounts differ on the weapon and the target. The Telegram channel refers to Tomahawk cruise missiles hitting a port, while the X post describes a jet firing two missiles at a launcher 12.
Other accounts cited in the event record also describe activity on the island, including explosions and missile launches reported by @Osinttechnical and two projectiles said by Iran's IRNA, citing locals, to have hit the Souza area. Those reports were not among the numbered sources available for this article, and their content could not be checked here.
No deaths or injuries have been reported in connection with the incident, and neither US nor Iranian officials were quoted in the available material.
The reports came on a day of other unconfirmed claims in the region. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reportedly said it shot down a US MQ-1 Grey Eagle drone over Qeshm Island earlier on 6 November, and Iran was reported to have issued a code 100 evacuation and dispersal alert for its southern provinces later that day. Both reports are unconfirmed.
