The Kryvorizka thermal power plant in Zelenodolsk, in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, came under Russian ballistic missile attack in the early hours of 3 November, according to several accounts on the social media platform X 12. No official statement on the reported strike, damage or casualties has been published.

A post by @Worldsource24 said the plant was being attacked by Russian ballistic missiles 1. Around the same time, @Maks_NAFO_FELLA reported that the Kryvyi Rih thermal power plant was under ballistic attack 2. The Kryvorizka facility sits in Zelenodolsk, near the city of Kryvyi Rih, and the posts appear to refer to the same plant. Another account claimed the plant had been struck, but that report could not be independently verified.

A later post by @Worldsource24 described what it said was a wider wave of Russian strikes on thermal generation, naming the Zmiiv plant near Kharkiv, the Prydniprovska plant in Dnipro, the Zelenodolsk plant and the Ladyzhyn plant 4. @FaytuksNetwork also reported that Russia was striking Ukraine's thermal power plants, without naming specific sites 3.

None of these accounts gave casualty figures, and none cited Ukrainian authorities or the plant's operator. As of publication, no statement had been found from DTEK, which owns the plant, from the Dnipropetrovsk regional administration, from Ukraine's Air Force or from Russia's Defence Ministry concerning this specific incident. The claims therefore rest on social media posts and remain unconfirmed.

The reports came during a period of intense attacks on energy infrastructure. A large Russian drone and missile attack targeting Ukraine's energy system, including the Ladyzhyn thermal plant in Vinnytsia region, was reported on the evening of 2 November. Minutes before the Zelenodolsk posts, a ballistic missile strike was reported on the regional centre, Dnipro. Separately, there were unconfirmed reports that Russian attacks had halted combined heat and power plants in Kyiv.

The Kryvorizka plant has been reported as a target in previous attacks, including an earlier strike in which DTEK said energy workers were injured.

Ukraine has meanwhile continued long-range strikes on Russian energy facilities, with attacks reported on the Yaroslavl oil refinery overnight and on sites in Nizhny Novgorod and Samara regions in preceding days.
